Because we have thousands of people at Naturally Supernatural, we meet some vulnerable delegates who arrive with ongoing problems, or who respond in meetings and times of ministry with complex issues that require further help. Delegates may be referred onto the Connect team by members of the Chat Room team or the enabling team if something has been disclosed that needs further action or support. The Connect team are a wonderful bunch of experienced social workers, counsellors and psychologists who are there to help in a confidential, caring and professional way with whatever issues are raised.
As a member of the Connect team, you will be responsible for following our safeguarding procedures when dealing with issues of child protection and abuse that may come to light at any stage during the events, and keeping detailed, confidential records of these conversations. You’ll also be on hand to give advice to other team leaders, delegates and youth leaders on the matters of child protection and abuse.
This is a 24 hour team so you will be on a shift pattern which you will receive on arrival. Please expect to work around 8 hours a day. There may be times that although you won’t be on shift, you may be on call which means you may be interrupted in the night. The Connect team spend their time responding to situations all over site which also means a fair bit of walking so please bring comfortable shoes!
In return for your hard work we will provide you with an event pass and all your meals (dinner of Day 1 until breakfast of Day 7) – yay!
You should ideally be in a profession such as social work or counselling/psychology. You should be experienced and professional and capable of dealing with complex and difficult situations in a sensitive way and confidential manner, and to produce appropriate documentation.
You’ll also be required to apply for a DBS certificate before we can confirm your place on this team. Information will be sent to you when we process your initial application but if you already have a DBS with Soul Survivor that is less than three years old or you’re subscribed to the update service, then you won’t have to complete a new one – winner! Just drop us an email with the details and we can take it from there.
HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE?
You’ll need to be at least 23 to join the Connect team.
WHEN WILL I NEED TO BE ON SITE?
Day 1 to the morning of Day 7 (which is the day after the event officially ends). There’s a welfare team meeting at 2pm on Day 1 which you MUST attend and a meeting for all teams at 3pm. You may wish to arrive in time to set up your tent before these meetings.

We need Connect team members for each Soul Survivor week and for Naturally Supernatural, you can apply online using our booking system. If you haven’t done so already, you will need to register with the system and then login. Book a place on the event of your choice and choose the option to book as a team member. It’s completely free to volunteer with us so you won’t have to give any payment details.
